Has anyone here ever set up or been a part of a local screenwriters group, where scriptwriters can meet up in person and discuss scripts, movies and exchange advice? I set one up (through MySpace) this time last year, but hardly anyone joined. Maybe I didn't advertise it right or I wasn't clear enough about what we were trying to do. The previous year, I used MeetUp.com, but nothing much happened either! I would try again, but does anyone know how to do it and if it's worth it. Are these groups any good?
Is it worth setting up a local screenwriters' group?

If you can hook up with people who are "actively" writing, it's a good idea.
There's a local filmmaker's group out here but most of them talk more than
film, so I don't go often to those meetings.
Do a google search on your town, check with the local college, see who you
can find.
