  • Scrolling Split Screens

Firstly, does the thread title make sense?

We start in one bedroom where Nick and Karen are just lying there but making all the sex noises. (Oh, Nick! Oh, Karen! Oh, Baby! Oh, Yeah! and so on) just for fun.

In the same house but a different bedroom are Karen's parents They start doing the same. (Oh, Les! Oh, Jill!) All noise, no action, except maybe shaking the bed vigorously.

That becomes a split screen. With me so far? Good.

Then we scroll to the right and a third bedroom (neighbours' house, Nick's parents actually) comes into picture and the first bedroom moves out. So then we've got bedrooms two and three. (Oh, Ian! Oh, Alice!)

But we keep scrolling slowly across and a fourth bedroom comes into view. Bedroom two moves off screen.

    And so on.

Everbody can hear everbody else and it's all one big joke.

Except bedroom five. In that bedroom (dark) a couple is doing it for real but they are very quiet about it.

Bedrooms six and seven are like the others. Big neighbourhood joke.

Then finally in bedroom eight are a couple in their 70's, Edith and Bill. That then becomes full screen.

In case you're wondering, Edith is sitting up reading. Bill is trying to sleep. Edith nudges Bill and says (asks) Oh, Bill? Oh, Bill?

Bill pushes her hand away. Oh, piss off, Woman!

Anyhoo, the question is, how the hell do I format something like that?

    Re: Scrolling Split Screens

    This sounds pretty funny.

First off its a wipe, not a scroll. I'd probably jam it into the direction like a mini-slug, not a transition off to the right. So...

INT. NICK AND KAREN'S HOUSE - MASTER BEDROOM - NIGHT

Nick and Karen laugh while shaking the bed frame - very loud.
    NICK AND KAREN
Oh, Nick! Oh, Karen! Oh, Baby! Oh, Yeah!
They continue while we WIPE AND HOLD

    NICKS PARENT'S BEDROOM

on HALF SCREEN as Ian and Alice carrying on like adolescents...
    IAN AND ALICE
    Oh, Ian! Oh, Alice!

    and so on.

    I think that's how I'd do it.

I'm sure you know it could be considered bad form (controlling) but hey, that's beside the point, right?
