I'm not sure if this just happens to me - but I thought I'd share anyway.
The more scripts I write, the more I discover that I have to shuffle scenes after the 1st draft to improve the flow.
Now, I'm not talking about major scenes like Inciting Incident / Mid-Point Reversal / Climax etc, but more the numerous smaller scenes that establish character / location ...and so on.
It's almost like finding that I have a set of 5 or 6 core "anchors" for the story and most of the other pieces will fit in several different places within the framework fairly easily.
Before you ask - YES, these "other pieces" are necessary to the story and they do move the story forward and contain conflict...
Am I alone in this situation, or am I missing some previously unrealised screenwriting fundamental?
Thanks,
