I hope I'm not flooding the board with new posts. Trying to get some cool discussion swayed from argumentative (or spammed blog posts).

No, this is a good topic (and a nice change). The sense appears to be that to be an expert writer you have to try the same thing over and over, or try something different each time to try to become handy with many, a master of none. Me?

          - Sci-Fi (with drama and quirky humor elements)
          - War period dramedy (with a major action set piece)
          - Sci-Fi-Romance (time travel)
          - Apocalyptic drama (was going to be zombie but changed to serious)
          - political/terrorist dark comedy
          - big budget dino-action thriller
          - Fantasy comedy

See, I find it difficult to even keep one "genre" pure from beginning to end.

            Action, sci-fi, thrillers and horror.

I also love trying to mash those genres together.

I would really like to write a fantasy script. One that isn't too big. But I know it would be a waste of time. But there's so much opportunity to go wild with imagination within that genre. I already have some cool ideas. I finished a shlock horror a few days back and sent some queries and got no requests. So, I don't think I'm going to get any at all. So don't write schlock. That's deader than torture porn. Maybe I should write a torture porn. Not that I watch it. I got taste.

                    - Action-comedy (note: I DO NOT, nor will ever try, to script a comedy-comedy)
                    - Martial Arts action
                    - Lo-fi/indie Super hero
                    - Thriller

                    - Slasher (don't ask)
                    - Sci-fi/action/thriller (been shelved for now)

                    Am I missing anything...?

I plan on writing a romance one day, only I'll rewrite the friggin' genre!

Lesbian fiction... when I was in college... but I was drunk.

I mostly write action and thrillers and horror, but I've experimented in high concept family films (made, and spawned 4 sequels) and I have a girl-horse script I'm working on. I wrote a comedy long ago that isn't funny, so I'm going to do a rewrite on it in a few months. I have a period romance I am always threatening to write, even though there is zero market for it. And I started a western (my 2nd) a while back, then set it aside for a paying gig. I doubt I will ever write a rom-com.

Going through a bitter divorce right now. Nothing comedic about romance, except that we choose it willingly</rant>
