Small Movie Big Concept

"Small movie, big Concept."

This term - or variants thereof - is thrown around a lot of late. But what recent examples of this can you think of? One that springs to mind as I'm writing this is James Mangold's excellent: 'Identity'.

Any others you can think of?

Hey Bill

I wouldn't have thought either of those two would be considered 'small movies'. Both had multiple locations and big budgets etc. I'm thinking more along the lines of finite amount of locations, small amount of cast, but a BIG idea driving them.

Least ways that's how I've always viewed the term 'Small Movie Big Concept'.

But then again...hmmmmmmmm...The Sixth Sense really only has 3 actors. And if they'd really had to, the film could been done with less locations / less special effects etc. So maybe you're right. And 50 First Dates - at its heart - only has four actors, a breakfast dinner, a house, and an open stretch of road.

OK. On second thought...ya got me. Good calls, both of them!

And though 50 FIRST DATES takes place in Hawaii, the original script didn't. Small cast, doesn't have to be all over the place, but the idea is big enough to attract a big audience.
