    yea is a cheer
    ya is canadian or scandinavian
    yep is yes in redneck territory
    yo is always a bad rocky impersonation, don't use it unless it's short for yo-yo which is short for yolanda

          I think if you'll watch some shows from the 50s you'll see that
          "yeah" was rarely used. Then the 60s happened - any
          thought of formality went to the wayside and "yeah" became
          the next new groovy thing to say.

              'Yah' is indeed British. Of course, you do realise it could never be a play on the German 'Ja'. With WWII and all.

              It's the way posh people say 'Yeah'. As in, 'Oh yah darling, that looks absolutely splendid on you.'

              According to most UK comedians, it's the way Princess Di spoke. Ever watch Absolutely Fabulous?
