    Hmmmm.

Interesting article. I'm just not sure what to say about it. Maybe later.

I read the article and I thought, geeze, do Hollywood decision-makers actually think movie-goers can survive on a sugary diet of comedies, wholesome bland family dramas and patriotic fare? Or is that just Hollywood wanting to appear wholesome? Listen, what's wrong with a good thriller? Or action flicks without blowing up buildings? Or some good chop socky? I mean, sure, stay away from kidnapping, hostage-taking, airplane crashes and terrorists. But doesn't that leave at least 2 or 3 other action/thriller story ideas?

The article said Hollywood is falling back on "happy" glop that worked after WWII and the Kennedy assassination. Okay, so we can expect movies like "Mary Poppins" and "The Sound of Music" and TV shows like "Gilligan's Island", "Bewitched" and "The Munsters". Hey, I love Sound of Music as much as the next guy but sensibilities have changed. Must we have mindless fluff?
