Re: Writing with music distracting?
I like to fool myself into thinking I can write with music, but I can't. Good to get in the mood, then I have to turn it off.
But I live in an urban setting so there's never any true silence. In fact, the building next door is being demolished as I write this--has been for weeks--and I've been in one of my best writing grooves ever lately. Coincidence?
But I'm moving out of the downtown area soon and will have a real backyard. I'm going to get my first laptop and try writing outside with the birds chirping. I think what I need is some random fill noise in the background.
