  • Transitioning between styles.

Hey guys. I'm outlining a script right now where I will be switching from a normal movie to found footage then back again. Basically the first act is a normal movie but then our second act switches to found footage until the final scene. My question is how can I make the reader aware of this in my writing? Do I put Camera POV in the slugline once I switch to found footage?

In my opinion the simplest way would be simply to add a brief notation for the reader prior to the commencement of the "found footage" portion of your script - something like "From this point forward all subsequent scenes will be shot from a CAMCORDER POV".

What Rhodi said and you can even consider taking it a step further: "From this point forward all subsequent scenes are unedited found footage shot from a CAMCORDER POV."

Then (which is something you probably already are doing) throughout the pages keep giving the reader subtle reminders it's "amateurish" camcorder footage.

check out the screenplay for Interview With The Assassin if you can find it. It reads like a transcript of the found footage. So maybe within your script, it switches to a transcript...
