  • How would you script...

    one person asking a bunch of people if they're ready, and they all answer in the affirmative? Obviously you wouldn't waste space with each individual answer (yes, yeah, yup, etc.).

      Yeah, or THE GUYS, or THE WORKERS. You can form the plural even if it's for this one use and before that you referred to them as individual characters.

        It doesn't even have to be dialogue.

        You can say "the men voice their affirmations. Yeah, yup etc."

        As long as it makes sense to the reader. That's the only thing that matters.

          Yeah, I'd go with the above. No point in wasting lines on dialogue. Just go with-

          A CHORUS of agreement from the group.

          In action description or whatever.

          Same as I never use ARGHH! In dialogue. To me, brief/vague nondescript responses are no different to sound effects.

            That's what I figured.

            Just wanted to be sure that a script reader wouldn't say to himself, "Why isn't this dialogue attached to a character" or something.
