  • SICK: A Horror Contest - Guidelines

    Here's how this works:

    - Supernatural horror, psychological horror, torture porn, whatever. You've got free reign.

    - 5 pages max.

    - If you enter, you have to vote. Otherwise, your entry will be disqualified. If you don't enter, however, you can still vote.

    - You can have a max of TWO entries.

    - Submissions start now and run through Mar. 21st and 11:59PM PST. That's two weeks, so you have time to polish and really show us what you can do.

    - Voting lasts from Mar. 22nd at 12AM PST and runs through the end of the month. Winners announced on April 1st!

    - Submissions and voting are done through PM to me.

    - No voting for yourself.

    - The winner gets a prize!

    Scoring:

    - To vote, give your 1st, 2nd and 3rd place choices.

    - All votes are NOT created equal. Each entry will be awarded 3 points for a 1st place vote, 2 points for a 2nd place vote and 1 point for a 3rd place vote.

Good luck to you all. Show everyone what a sick f**k you really are!

I already have one written. I wrote it for the K.I.S.S comp, but two people told me it was too gross for DD, so I had to write another one.

Awesome, that works! It has a 5 page max, but it can definetely be shorter.

Gee -- all these DD contests are in "not my genre" genres.

Advice from writer, Kelly Sue DeConnick. "Try this: if you can replace your female character with a sexy lamp and the story still basically works, maybe you need another draft.-

            Don't worry about it, sc.

I have yet to get a single entry, and - for that reason - I'm shutting this puppy down.

Wait until The Loveseat Comedies in May. That one is right up your alley.

I did have my short little "sick" script, but I didn't want to be the only one on these boards to come off as...well, sick.

With 2 days still to go to deadline?! I was wrestling with a couple of potentials, maybe other folks were too. Thing is, the "sick" theme requires a bit of thought, you can't just brain-fart your way through something like this. Well I couldn't anyway.

Oh well, maybe next time. The peril of parallel contests -- the other one got more visibility because its posts kept moving to the top of the forum.

What the hell man? I was going to send two in. I'm workshopping the second one tonight with my regular group. Now you tell me it's over due to lack of entries. That means I would have placed first and second.

I can brain-fart my way though sick and demented but I can't for comedy.

If you have shorts ready, or are juggling them around, go ahead and send them. I'll post them for people to vote on...there won't be many, so this way you're pretty likely to place.

Hey, maybe this is my chance!

I have to wait till I get home though. It's on my "Big Mac" at home.

Same deadline right? I'm one of those who likes to wait till the last hour because I never know when my remaining five or six creative brain cells are going to fire off. Sadly, drugs haven't helped this situation. Not from lack of trying though. Not that you care. Just saying. The rambling continues though. Not that you care about that either.

I don't mind so much about the prize (unless it's a membership to some club, then I'm all in). It's the prestige I'm looking for. I tell all my friends I took third once. Their eyes get big and then I tell them it's a world wide contest and then the jaws drop.
