Wondering if judging shouldn't consist of three categories, each worth three points.
Something like...
Theme and story structure, e.g how well does the story match the assigned theme? Does it work?
Dialogue
Technical, i.e. formatting, etc.
The entry with the highest aggregate score wins.
Example:
Story A
Theme/story = 2
Dialogue = 1
Technical = 3 Total = 6
Story B
Theme/Story = 3
Dialogue = 2
Technical = 2 Total = 7
Story B Wins. Of course this is only one set of votes. I'm assuming there'd be more than one voting, which means the story receiving the highest average aggregate vote would win.
Ties???? Well, its a tie then.
Such a scoring breakdown might help the writers and everyone else ID strengths and weaknesses of the entries; placing a bit more emphasis on "exercise," rather than competition.
