I see that the lists here are old, so maybe I should suggest either an IMDb Pro trial (no point having it eat money from your credit card monthly if all the work can be done in a few days) or a Cinando account.

DO CHECK who you are E-mailing, as a great deal of these people DO NOT represent screenwriters at all, but novelists and the sorts, and you Emailing those people will waste your/their time.

Just saw this is updated. Finally lol.

That said, good luck and Happy holidays.

    Hi all,

Follow-up question, related to the above:

Is there a fairly comprehensive Monster List, with names but *not* emails? (I know people move around a fair amount, but it'd be a starting point.)

I'm trying to find a list of mid- to large-size management companies, and then do research on the managers who work there.

If there's another/better resource, I'm all ears -- pretty new to this.

    Thanks!

"What goes on now is that you can use DDP to get email addresses, but you have to know whose email you're trying to get."

So - as someone who hasn't joined the leagues of Done Deal Pro yet - how does the DDP database work? IE: say you're looking to get contact information for Manager X. Do you need to already know a specific rep's name, or can you search via "Manager X?" And with agents (and managers) - is there a note as to whether they accept unsolicited?

Convince me to join, I'm game! (Alternatively, is there a book that all and sundry generally recommend with such contact links?)

    Cheers,

    Pitchblack (J)

What goes on now is that you can use DDP to get email addresses, but you have to know whose email you're trying to get. This prevents any one manager or agent from being spammed all to hell from newbies who think the appropriate way to get their script out there is to carpet bomb every email address they can get with queries.

But that's exactly what's going to happen if there's some sort of master list. Newbies will grab it and spam it to hell and back.

I've already had the experience, once or twice, or having a manager (after he agreed to read a script) ask me, "by the way, why'd you pitch this to me?" Now, because I'm not a total newb, I had an honest answer to that question other than "I found your email address." But the moment people here "there's a list at DDP and your email is on it" is the moment people start changing their email addresses, which is a pain in the ass for everyone.
This is correct. I really wouldn't want my email address posted on some list on the internet. And if I found out it was, I'd have it taken down.

    Best,

Good point. I didn't really think of it that way, but you're right.

Re: LA Managers: Monster List of Lit.

If I set up a spreadsheet and ask everyone to submit, would anyone be willing to contribute through a form?

Or we can create a folder on google docs and people can upload their spreadsheets, which I can compile. If that's easier.

Re: LA Managers: Monster List of Lit.

    I have a suggestion.

One can create a google form to collect data that is linked to a spreadsheet -- this would allow many people (who are not directly admins of the spreadsheet) to contribute information to it -- then I guess the admin would need to clean out the dupes and periodically update about what is missing/complete.

It may work -- a crowdsourcing tool, since it seems there are a lot of people who are willing to admin, but the information is spread out much more and it is likely to be a lot of work.

Here's the how-to for google forms:
