  • Career advice (foreign writer)

I work as a promo writer in a premium TV channel in my country.

With the connections I've made during several years of working there and some amount of clout as a writer (several novels critically acclaimed etc.) it would be pretty easy for me to get hired as a writer for one or another TV series.

My current job pays more and I don't really love most of the shows we produce in my country (soaps, formats) so I'm not crazy about the idea, but maybe it would help me get representation in LA?

Could writing for a TV show in a foreign country be considered a bargaining chip in Hollywood? Maybe even selling a movie for the local market? Or is it better to just concentrate on writing my own stuff and sending it out to agents/managers?
