How to tell if a Management Company is legit?

Just in case they happen to be skimming Done Deal, I am not sure I should mention their name. I found a management company that needs readers and considering I am looking to have more experience in that, it sounds like a good idea.

How often can a management company be confused for an agency? There is an agency by the same name that people consider to be a scam and I am wondering if by some chance they were actually talking about the thing I am looking at.

I know there are lists for agencies, but what about management companies?

If they posted on craigslist chances are they are not legit, but that doesn't necessarily mean it would be a wasted experience.
