  • Why do some scripts hit tracking boards and some don't?

Some reps' material always seems to hit tracking boards, others maybe not at all until a sale if there is one. In the former, are the reps purposely trying to get it on tracking boards?

I suspect most of the public tracking boards are manipulated(will-fully) by agents/managers. Agents tip them off. Sometimes agents don't bother.

The first time my spec went out, my manager definitely had something to do with getting it on the tracking boards. A few months later we took it out to studios with the attached producers, and it hit the tracking boards with an annoying, baseless, "SALE IMMINENT?" tag. That wasn't my manager. Maybe the producers?

Regardless, I do get the impression that these boards are generally manipulated by people involved with the scripts. People do check them, because they generated a number of read requests for us, but they're still all about hype.
