  • Script Sales...boring Boring Boring

It might be me but I just read the script sales for the month of December and all I can say is that they all look boring. It reminds me of not finding anything to see when I say 'let's go see a movie' and looking through the newspaper and decide to not go.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

    Just wondering,

I haven't really checked script sales yet, but as far as movies go, I think this year was better than last year's. That's just me though, I'm more of a reader/writer type than watcher.

I didn't look back through the sales logs to verify this, but it seemed the last month that almost every sale was an adaptation -- usually novels and comics, some children's books, foreign films or remakes -- which aren't going to be described as fully or engagingly. Still, you're right, not very many eye-popping concepts lately.

Since we actually have a forum called "Script Sales," I moved this from Basics to Script Sales.

I wouldn't think twice about calling 2006 one of the top 5 worst years in cinema history.

Or would that be bottom 5? I dunno. Maybe I will think some more about that.

          Regardless, this year blew chunks.

I admit, i'm very picky when it comes to movies. I only really like a few each yr.

i can't think of one -- not one-- off the top of my head that i thought was exceptional & would recommend from this yr.

We only rent DVDs now, no theater-going. Maybe when i watch some of the Dec releases i'll change my mind... but so far, yeah, this yr blew chunks.

              Maybe I'm just easily entertained.

I guess I too am an easy mark.

Because although I can't often make it to the theater, every time that I did go (The Illusionist, Apocalypto, Stranger Than Fiction, Casino Royale, etc) I enjoyed myself.

Movies that I would recommend from this year:

                  Borat
                  Little Miss Sunshine
                  The Departed
Thank You For Smoking (was that this year?)
