  • A good writer's thesaurus

Anybody found a particularly good writer's thesaurus? Any of the online ones any good?

I use a leather-bound Roget's I received for my Bar Mitzvah, many, many shabboses ago.

But you can find the same one online, as well as many other versions of it. They all serve a similar purpose, and do the job well. Also, Microsoft Word has a basic thesaurus built in to the program that works nicely on the fly.

I used Roget's at college but lost it in a move and have used The Synonym Finder ever since. (Bought it on release - 80s.) But seem to come up short on action verbs sometimes. Maybe I just don't look hard enough. I ended up making my own for words like "walk", that I use often. I just ran across one entitled Action - an Actors Thesaurus on Amazon. Link is as follows: http://www.amazon.com/Actions-Actors...2316509&sr=1-9

      Anyone used it?

          Moviequill,

Thanks. That looks good too. My quick check found it comprehensive and easy to use.
