Hey everybody - I posted a great guest blog about the strike and it's potential impact on The Rouge Wave today. I was lucky enough to talk Philippa Burgess into writing that up for me. I personally found it quite elucidating! I know there's a lot of places to get opinions and information about the strike but Philippa made a couple of points about it that hadn't occurred to me - there might be a now ineffable upside after the strike; it could usher in any number of new trends in the spec market. I guess when one door closes, another opens. How's that for positive thinking?!

Every paid writer was a wannabe at one time. Doesn't change the fact that the strike shouldn't be about trying to work the angles.

God forbid anyone should try to find an upside to what will most likely be a pointless strike.

I'm not sure I get it - Philippa posts what I thought was a pretty interesting take on the (likely) strike...and...that's a problem because...?

Yes a strike hurts real people; I'm off to go visit a set right now that will go dark the minute it kicks in. My best friend just bought a house and it's going to be tough to pay the mortgage. But writers trying to break in need to simply keep writing and keep learning.
