On my blog Fridays I have a series where we look at one of Hitchcock's 53 films in depth and see what we can learn about screenwriting from them. I began at the end, and am headed towards the silents.
When I began the series, the plan was to write 1,250 word articles, because 53 of those would be close to a book... but after several short entries I hit PSYCHO and that entry was 3 times longer than planned... and so were almost all of the entries that came afterwards. I soon realized that instead of one book, I'd probably end up with *three* books. But that would require expanding the early entries.
Because FRENZY is showing at the New Beverly Cinema this weekend, I decided to really dig into that film and find some great screenwriting lessons... and have expanded it to almost 4,000 words!

I'll be seeing the film on the big screen again on Saturday night!
