Re: Why I've fallen out of love with John Irving
Sorry to hear that, Nic. I didn't want to say anything at the time 'cause you both seemed happy, but I never trusted him. I thought he thought too much of himself. However, I must admit that Prayer almost made me rethink the man. But then he started on his narcissistic path again.
My own same sex marriage with Peter Straub ended just recently. I wasn't being fulfilled with his last couple of efforts, but it was A Dark Matter that finally convinced me to end the relationship. I no longer recognized him.
Oh, and a recommendation. I don't know if you're into graphic novels or anything, but I'd suggest taking out Asterios Polyp. I think it'll be love at first site.

I will confess something here and now - just between you and me... I have never read a graphic novel. Not one word. Ever.
But now you've got me thinking.

Agree with everything you say, Nic! Son of the Circus ... huh? I started falling away from Irving then. It's in my bookshelf, I don't think I finished it.
BTW; I read your earlier blog entry -- the Gender thingy. I have to try that at some time.Advice from writer, Kelly Sue DeConnick. "Try this: if you can replace your female character with a sexy lamp and the story still basically works, maybe you need another draft.-

Re: Why I've fallen out of love with John Irving
Thanks for reading, guys.
The gender thing is fun but silly. If you look at the words they classify as "male" versus "female" your reaction will be a lot like mine: "WTF?"
But it's especially funny for me because I'm consistently assumed male online before I declare myself, and this "test" said the same thing.
Will check out this Asterios Polyp thing of which you speak, HH.
