It's really interesting to see the broader industry address the lack of diversity among screenwriters and other behind the scenes positions.

It's amazing that it took murders at the hands of police, protests, and riots for the industry to address this issue. Still, I'm happy to see it being covered.

Interesting articles re Black Panther and the black woman entertainment attorney.

Thing is -- we've seen the industry announce major commitments to diversity every few years. Last big promise was more women directors and writers. Yet the demos rarely change.

The industry is still predominantly white and male.

That's the problem with institutionalized, systemic bias against women and people of color. It's so ingrained it's difficult to dismantle.

The idea that the industry is a merit system is comical. To be true, it would indicate that white men are inherently more talented by nature than women and people of color.

Change comes on a grass roots level when individuals make a point to hire minorities as their reps, directors, onscreen/off-screen talent for their projects.

If individuals don't make that commitment, grand industry announcements are empty promises.
Advice from writer, Kelly Sue DeConnick. "Try this: if you can replace your female character with a sexy lamp and the story still basically works, maybe you need another draft.-

Like everything if you need an "inclusion" report -- it should be named the opposite.
