I'm sitting here at my computer laboring away on my latest screenplay when I glance above my computer and see a shelf full of books on how to write a screenplay; how to market a screenplay; and how to sell a screenplay.
And guess what? I haven't sold a darn thing.
Suddenly, it dawns on me. The only people making money off of screenwriting are the authors (i.e. dream weavers) who write books and sell them to putz's like me.
Boy, I can't wait to sell a script so I can write a book and sell it to all the other wannabees out there! Maybe then, I 'll make some money.
I, therefore, am raising my right hand and saying:
"From this day forward, I do solemnly swear, to not buy another book on screenwriting (no matter how big of a promise it makes) ever again."*
Anybody with me????
*Although I might make an exception and buy a book on formatting if the standards change significantly.
