    David Howard is/was the head of the graduate screenwriting program at USC. His "Tools Of Screenwriting" used to be required reading for screenwriting majors. Probably still is. It's a good screenwriting craft book. One I generally recommend.

    I can't tell you about his new book, but just from skimming through the table of contents (on amazon), I'd say it looks like he's taken "Tools..." and expanded on it.

    How to Build a Great Screenplay

    Has anyone read this? Saw it last night at Border's and it looks sort of like another version of McKee's STORY but by someone I've never heard of before. Was going to consider buying it but wanted to hear more about it first.
