Has anyone ever applied to FindTheFunny?

They bill it as the only contest which focuses uniquely on comedy screenplays. Any veterans of the process here?

Did they give you coverage on your script when you entered? Was it of any quality?

Entered . . . didn't place. Coverage is worth the money you pay and it's a cool award party in Hollywood. You had better have a damn funny script, or you're wasting your coins.

My experience with this contest was not that favorable. I entered a script that had advanced in other contests: quarter-finals - FADE IN, Second Round -Austin - Semi-finals - Expose it, comedy screenplay competition.

I didn't advance in this contest and when I received the coverage it was mostly all poors, if I recall correctly. Also, the written critique was very brief, 3 sentences, I believe, and it was obvious from what was written that the person hadn't read beyond page 10.

My genre was teenage sex comedy in the same vein as American Pie - had a lot of f-bombs/sex and some toliet humor. Don't know if that factored into it though.

I was one of the 10 finalists last year (didn't win) - I haven't heard a peep from them all year then just 2 nights ago out of the blue I get a call from one of the people running the contest. They send out the loglines of all ten finalists to companies that request information, and I got a request and read of my script from a lit. mgmt/prod. company.

I'll let you know if it turns into anything. I was also asked to come to next year's award ceremony in LA next April. They're VERY nice people and I believe they really want to see writers succeed in the industry. They are very new, but my experience was positive and I'd enter again if I had another comedy script.

I only read an earlier draft of wenonah's finalist script, but I can say her top 10 finish was well deserved. A high concept romantic comedy if there ever was one. It doesn't surprise me at all that a production company is interested. They'd be fools not to snatch it up, fools I tell you! Best of luck with it! Fingers crossed.
