I won 1st place in their 1/2 hour contest last year. Besides the nice $500 I got, I really didn't get anything else out of it. But that seems to be what a lot of people say about ALL these contests now. I guess the only reason to enter these days is for the prize money, at least it's $500 (or whatever) more than you had....and MAYBE you'll get lucky and someone will contact you.

I was a finalist in screenplay competition in '05, and one of the judges, who is a legimitate producer, called me about a possible assignment. It didn't happen--I didn't have the type of calling-card script in the area she was interested in--but the call was real.
