Nicholl confirmation/check cashing

I don't mean to sound paranoid, but if I mailed my script May 1st from New Jersey and the check still hasn't been cashed yet, should I be concerned?

I wouldn't expect any kind of confirmation letter at this point, but I guess I thought my account should be debited by now.

We've opened all the packages but we don't send the checks to accounting until after we enter information into the database. That's been going slower this year than in previous years. About 800 more scripts need to be processed, so it's possible that we have not reached your script yet. And it's certainly possible that checks among the last 1200-1500 entries have not yet been cashed.

Sorry for the inconvenience and worry.

did you subsequently register online through the AMPAS site? I too mailed on May 1st (sorry Greg) but then followed up with the online registration after the pre-deadline crush was over. Got my confirmation this week. No need to keep track of the check.

I didn't realize you could register online after sending it. And when I tried to register online beforehand the system was down or something. Luckily I won't have to deal with it next year since I plan on winning a fellowship this year.

And thanks for the info, Greg. Any estimates on the total number of scripts rec'd this year?

I'll put down a bet: Under 5,900. I think after the peak of 6,078 a few years ago the numbers are going to drop a bit.

I sent two scripts. One was confirmed as being received two weeks ago. The other is still unconfirmed. They were sent in the same package. Should I be worried?!

I just got my notice today via e-mail that my script is there. I sent it a long time ago (and you can tell that by the script's registration number, which is in the 150s) I sent hard copies of everything because the on-line application was not operating at that time. The e-mail also says: "Thus far, we have received 4891 scripts for this year’s competition." The e-mail is dated today, so I don't know how they could be expecting more screenplays. Maybe overseas entrants?

Love the new email process Being in Canada those snail mail letters take time. However I managed to use the online process, so I knew the scripts were confirmed about a week after they were received by Nicholl.

I hope they send the dink letters by email too.
