Re: Greetings from beautiful downtown Burbank!

    I'm ducking out this year.

It's all part of my plan to have a stack of scripts so hot next year that I take all five fellowship spots and Mr. Beal has to figure out how to handle that scenario and I also win Austin, Scriptapalooza, and, like, six other contests and I wake up to find a sea of top agents and A-list producers begging at my door...

Also, I don't have any scripts in competition condition.

    Good luck, everybody.

I'm a first time entrant this year.

          A Teen Fantasy/Drama.

I just want to see if I can make the first cut. Since it's my first screenplay, that would be encouraging. I don't expect anything more than that. Also, I don't mind supporting a worthy cause.

I also entered it in Bluecat, only because they give feedback on every script.

Bye the way...is anyone besides me worried about Vig?

How many people here think Vig's secret identity is Boston Rob from Survivor and The Amazing Race.

              Show of hands?

I enter a drama/comedy every year. The same one. What was that definition of insanity again?

I entered two this year: a commercial comedy (because I notice that more commercial genres are making headway) and a thriller about the religious right that might have been before its time the 1st time I entered it a few years ago, but I hope now seems prescient.

I hope Greg Beal has something to say about this VERY soon.

Let's see -- As I'm not eligible, I won't be entering again this year.

I forgot to ask how many welcome to the Nicholl competition letters went into the mail Thursday and Friday afternoons. I know we had sent letters to entrants whose scripts had arrived by April 2 as of Thursday morning. That was about 1290.

We finished processing all of the scripts that arrived on May 3 & 4; the total on those two days alone was just under 1700.

It looks as if the total count will be down slightly this year, which isn't bad considering that we released the application form about two months later than usual and for the first time ever did not have a "fancy" printed version of the form. As of yesterday the estimated count was over 5,800; with some number of properly postmarked scripts yet to arrive, my guess is that the final count will be near 5,900.
