    Re: Nicholl FINALS

"Whiplash" made the top 30. So near, but yet ... diddly-squat.

Well, congrats, anyway, Lauri, because your script is fantastic!

How do you know? Did it say that in the letter?

Greg Beal usually hand-writes it in if you just miss the next level

I'm out, too. *sigh* Well, hopefully next year... ineligible!

That's exactly the way to think about it.

Just opened my letter, too. Was in the Top 30 scripts as well, which YAY, but it hurts to get that close. Now I have to struggle with how much I should fiddle with the script. What's even more confounding is that I sent in the exact same script last year and didn't even get the Top 10% note, let alone break into the QFs. The only thing I changed this year was the title. Go figure.

Okay, enough bitterness. Congrats to all who got this far, and good luck to any finalists who may come across this thread.

Geez, just goes to show that changing the title and resubmitting, and with maybe a new group of readers you get much closer than before. That's something else. Just goes to show how subjective this all is.. Wow!!

                Thanks for the post...

Yeah, I love Mr. Hale's story too. It's definitely one point for the "contests are subjective and a crapshoot" side.
