  • Any suggestions on email-based writing groups?

    Hi folks,

I'm hoping to join (or start) an email-based writers group. Ideally, I'd love to meet in person, but because I live in what can affectionately be described as a "cowtown" far from L.A., I'm looking at the online option.

Any places where I could find a group like this? I like Zoetrope and Triggerstreet, but I feel like a smaller peer group (3-4 people) is potentially more efficient and rewarding when it comes to exchanging critiques, providing support, and motivating each other when it comes to deadlines.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be much obliged. I'm looking for folks who:
    - are deeply committed to their goal of becoming pro screenwriters
    - have written at least one well-formatted spec
    - want to write at least 3 screenplays a year
    - see the value of sharing their well-constructed opinions with other writers

Suggestions? Links? Wishes to join? Thanks!

Fantastic. I want to see if we can get 1 or 2 more people.

I am a big believer in the power of small groups of people who share the same objective.

I would be interested, although I think 3 scripts a year is a little ambitious.

This is a small (42 members) Yahoo Group that critiques 2 scripts per month.

              http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group...nplayfeedback/

The value of the critiques varies widely, and I don't get as much of a sense of "rooting for each other" as I would like, but you can check it out.

I have, in the past, also formed two Yahoo Groups, one for songwriting(where we developed into a very tight family of half a dozen) and another Group to work on a specific project....And, ummm, I've found the smaller, personal groups to be much more useful....

And some more umm-umming...Tell ya what, I'll take five minutes and set up a Group and send ya'll an e-mail invitation to join(it will be a "private" group and not accessible except through invitation)....You can check it out, and if anyone finds it useful, then Kewl, and if not, then no harm no foul....And yes, I have waaayyy too much time to kill:-)

PM me with an e-mail address if you'd like an invitation.
