Re: Our own XL is a Nicholl Finalist!
Hey Oz,
Yeah, something like that. Was all down to a bet too. Me and a few friends were sitting in a grimy East-London bar at the end of April and I, in a moment of drunken genius, made a bet with one that I could nail Natalie Portman before he does. I'd heard that writers get all the girls (not to mention all the glory) so I took two days off work, read that McKee book (well, the back cover), and knocked one of those screenplay things together, just in time for the Nicholl deadline.
Was pretty easy actually. Think I might write another one soon, something with vampires, or hitmen, or vampire hitmen.
[smile]
Doubler, my actual backstory is likely enough to make any PR agent happy, but I'm thinking I might adopt a mime-only approach to pitching. Just to stand out, you know.
I'm actually living in London now, and have moved around the country a whole heap, but Durham (well, the crappy council estate outskirts) is where my family is.
Signal, I hear you man.
Acqua, thanks for the wise words. I'm no sucker but it always pays to be on guard.
And finally, for those who asked, the log:
SNATCHED
(Contained Thriller)
Seven days after the disappearance of his young daughter, a desperate Taxi Driver, certain he's figured out what the police couldn't, snatches her School Teacher and takes him on a terrifying ride in an effort to get him to confess at any cost.
