Yes, I can't wait till Monday. Good luck to everyone. I entered Disney as well... and I thought it would be a screenwriters dream or maybe a heart attack if they announced both on the same day and you were to win both.

The website says the finalists and winner will be contacted directly on February 2nd. So there's still hope for you!

Actually, the website says, "The Grand Prize Winner and Top Ten finalists will be announced here on February 1, 2008."

          So, tomorrow?

D'oh! Mea culpa. I saw the date and didn't even notice the year. So not today. Tomorrow.

Ehud Lavski is having a good year! I think he won trackingb.com, also. Different script, though.

DREAMWEAVER placed as a QF in Zoetrope:
                        http://www.zoetrope.com/contests/200...ts.htm#quarter
This is the very first script I wrote,
                        actually cowrote with the ex.
Dunno why they didn't list his name.

DREAMWEAVER is also a semi-finalist -- so far -- at Screenplay Festival:
                        http://www.screenplayfestival.com/2008_semifinal.html

Those are only places I submitted DW this year, so, yay!

                          Re: Zoetrope Contest Announcement Looming

Not one for screenwriting competitions but I decided to give it a whirl -- tossed one of my most aggressive endeavors into the competition "Everything's Swimmingly" and I too came in the QF. So I guess i'm on the right track - but cograts to all who placed/won and to all who even risked to expose themselves and put their work out there. Let's keep writing.

                              Re: Zoetrope Contest Announcement Looming

Has anyone ever received any traction from this contest? I ask because I placed in the semifinals four years in a row and never received one request for a read. The placements also didn't seem to help when referenced in queries, as Zoetrope isn't a well-known contest in Hollywood. Another writer I know had two scripts make the finals and experienced the same response (or lack of it).

It's a nice validation and pat on the back, especially with the involvement of Francis Ford Coppola -- don't get me wrong -- and I heartily congratulate all who advance. But I wonder if this contest is really out there promoting the placing screenplays?

In contrast, my Nicholl semifinalist script got 34 read requests this past year.

I'd love to hear Zoetrope success stories from the winners and finalists other than the same tired ones they post on the website.
