Isn't that map a cool thing? I love the way they run this contest.

What category are you entered in, Marco?

I'm hoping maybe my short has a shot. Odds look decent.

My first thought when I saw that: Does anyone make dramas anymore?

        I've entered one in "Historical."

Yes, and they win contests while other people sell scripts.

Yup. That's the problem with contests in general and that's why PAGE is so cool. They give prizes in all these different genres and market the winners to producers who are looking for that type of material. Makes perfect sense.

But honestly, I can't rag on people who write dramas. My first two scripts were dramas based on some of my own experiences. I kept hearing the old saw "write what you know" and I was actually dumb enough to do that.

The caveat they never tell you: "if it's interesting."

the dramas from Nicholl win and get made
but most dramas produced are adaptations from novels

btw - write what you know doesn't mean write your life that's what people don't get

                  Thriller/Horror -- 576 <-- I'm in this group. I predict as high as a quarter-finalist for the screenplay I entered though.

There are three entries from Nigeria. I wonder if they are 100 page scam letters about how the reader is a beneficiary to an African queen and needs to help move 100 million dollars between bank accounts.

Almost 1/4 of the entries are from California alone. Wow.
