Originally posted by nic.h View PostI wouldn't bother with Page - I've posted this before - I was a Top Ten Finalist and I did not receive ONE request. Not one. Although I did and had from my own research and queries - I got close to 20 read requests - but none came out of this contest.
If you win, the money's good. Don't expect much else though.
It seems like they've got plenty of success stories for the winners. Of course with any contest it's hard to tell if the success came via the contest, or happened independently.

I have helped several writers from the Expo contest get writing gigs over the years - Naida, Nathan, Bill, etc....

Re: Any recommendations for upcoming contests?
Just an update on MovieScript Contest.
I've received a second read request from a legit Lit Man (for a script they have already passed...)
So maybe the contest is getting some traction?
I submitted another script this year and maybe I will again next year.

Re: Any recommendations for upcoming contests?
here's an article explaining the prob with fadein....
http://www.thewrap.com/article/1812
as for themoviedeal.com, i'm too tired right now to explain, but basically, last year they extended deadlines and decreased cost a bunch of times, after many people already paid more. this is unconventional and unprofessional. not mention that they were late with all of their announcements.
if someone else had a good experience with them, i'd love to hear about it.

I hope to be able to give away 30k in cash in a few years so we can really change the life of a couple talented upcomers.
Laura Harkcom (The Lost Room, We Kill Monster) has become a sponsor and is going to give some career or craft advice to one of the winners.

Same goes for Moviescript. 4th place winner last year - 1 read request. This contest is run by a nice fella but...
After canvassing opinions here and there I have compiled this list of worth-while contests:
Final Draft - big cash prize
Nicholl
Tracking B
Page - big cash price
Script Savvy - apparently winners get a lot of reads
Scripapalooza - not 100% sure that it is worth it, still undecided
Script Pimp - same as above
Austin - they still do business with hard copies and credit card transactions submitted by paper there

Why not enter the ones you mentioned not to enter?

trackingb gets my vote.
You need to put the Nic's and Austin in your calendar for next year though.
