“A depressed guy opens a bookstore,” in most cases, isn’t enough information for a logline.

        My failure:

        Title: I Want Your Body
        Genre: Comedy
Logline: When a pushover paperboy manager discovers the ability to take control of other people’s bodies, he develops a drug-like addiction to living the life of the very rival he aims to destroy.

This sounds such a cool concept

Have you shopped it around? Reactions?

Didn't make the cut. Granted I submitted a horror, and only one true horror made the list. Should've sent my thriller log...

No shopping yet (minus like five emails). I just finished the third draft a week ago and entered it into TrackingB and ScriptShadow contests. I'll probably start mass querying in a few days.

                    I failed.

                    I expected I would.

I guess I lived up to even my own expectations.

                    That's pretty sad.

Re: ScriptShadow Top 100 Loglines is UP

I didn't enter, but enjoyed reading them. Some great concepts. Some that will rely entirely on the execution. One or two distinctly average ones. One or two that are almost carbon copies of other movies (one or two SIMPSONS DID IT! loglines too!)

I'd say out of the 100, I'd watch 20 should they become movies. Which is a pretty good turnout, considering the subjective nature of all this.

                        My 10 favorites were-

(I haven't included the loglines just in case this is bad form)

                        Silent Night
                        The Professor's Daughter
Traders (the age old switcheroo, but a new take)
                        Belli
                        Spying and Lying
                        Osiris Revivals
                        Bible Con
                        Lousianna Blood
                        The Mother Load (incredible title!)
                        Tainted

If any DD'ers are responsible, nicely done! They were great! Especially Silent night. I can already see the conflict there. Bible Con gets there purely on the last 3 words that rendered it the first logline I've ever laughed out loud at.

                        Good stuff!

Good work with that though, I think it's improved since I last read it. "Pushover paperboy manager" sounds a lot more fun!

I spotted at least five Done Deal folks... plus myself, I also spotted me!

Silent Night, The Cat Lady and The Alien Diaries were the ones that really jumped out at me.

Uh, those are 3 different titles BTW, though put together they make for a pretty intriguing title too...

                              FAILED ENTRY

This was a short script that I thought I could work into feature form if I made the cut. Probably isn't something I'll bother with otherwise.

                              Title: Yonderwindow Breaks
                              Genre: Psychological Thriller
Logline: Stuck in a seemingly endless chain of dreams, a man delves deeper and deeper into the world of his subconscious as he struggles to discover why he cannot awaken, becoming convinced that he's at the center of a larger, even Biblical, conspiracy.

Reading it now, I'm realizing that I made it sound like a plodding melodrama where a guy sits around rubbing his temples and agonizing over his inner demons. It's the word "subconscious" hanging there like a turd.
