    Re: 6th borough script contest

The dodgyness of this kind of thing is breathtaking.

A guy wants to produce a feature film and is looking for scripts.
Fair enough. He's never done one before, but that's OK. Everyone has to start somewhere.

But instead of simply reading scripts like every other production company - he has a new approach - he CHARGES writers to submit scripts to him !!!

I hope nobody is stupid enough to actually fall for this kind of nonsense.

Calling it 'a competition' instead of 'a fee to submit a script to an almost unknown producer' just seems dishonest.

You want to see the amazingly high production values of the production company that is behind this?

Look at their work here: http://www.youtube.com/v/JzhYdh1NH2Q

    Mac
(PS: They have a channel on Youtube with 9 subscribers.
The channel was described as 'We will be uploading a comedy short every week' about 10 months ago. Since then they've uploaded only three more comedy shorts. It doesn't seem that they are that competent when it comes to delivering on their promises.)

(PPS: His production company specialises in wedding videos: www.somethingnewweddingvideos.com & actor reels: www.actorsreelsla.com )

But now they are going to take money from the writers .. and this time they want to make a feature !!)

I dunno. According to the subtle implication from the website's border, it would appear as though this company was responsible for Reservoir Dogs, Garden State, Napoleon Dynamite, The Blair Witch Project, Good Will Hunting, The Ring, Saw, Desperado, Paranormal Activity, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine, Avatar, Slumdog Millionaire, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

So that's a pretty solid implied batting average.

Scam contest. Their winner is someone who doesn't exist and they'll delete their website after the contest. Happens most of the time with this new "First Annual Let's Make The WInning Script" contests.
