  • CineStory and American Idol

An interesting tidbit (to me, at least): Casey Abrams, one of the Idol finalists is the son of Pam Pierce, the founder of CineStory. Pam also programmed the first Austin Film Festival screenwriting conference. Pam's husband and Casey's dad is Ira Abrams, a documentary film maker and film professor.

    Greg -

That is interesting. Casey is one my faves this season. I remember his parents gave a cute interview. I bet Casey has probably written a screenplay. I wonder if he writes as well as he performs. I bet he would have a unique "voice".

Thanks for the timely heads up on this, Greg. Pam has strong Chicago roots, as well. CineStory started out as a gathering there in the early years. The experience she's created up in Idyllwild with her team is amazingly impactful and unique, in the screenplay contest world. (I was lucky enough to attend in 2008.) A good one for emerging writers to put on their target list for 2012.

Okay, so I'm "outing" myself as an Idol watcher but what the heck...

Thanks for the info, Greg! This has made it even more fun to watch the show. They often cut to the contestants' parents sitting in the audience and it's nice to know the connection. Casey's dad looks exactly like a film professor straight from Central Casting, doesn't he?

I obviously missed that interview, cshel. But hopefully Casey will be in it for a while longer and we'll be hearing more from them.
