      Re: Creative World Award Scorecard

For what it's worth, the FAQs on the website offer a different timeline.

      Q. When will the Creative World Awards winners be announced?
      A. Preliminary Qualifiers: By August 15th; Quarterfinals: August 22nd; Semifinals: August 29th; Finalists: September 5th, Winners: by September 12th.

But I sure would like to learn something today. Script that made Page QF didn't advance in Scriptapalooza so we're looking at this as the rubber match, as it were.

I too noticed the conflicting dates. F--- it. I'm sending an email to ask for clarification.

From their website: "The 2012 Season is now closed. The 1st round, Preliminary Finalists will be announced on 8/6/2012 by 7pm pacific time (please see the AWARDS page)."

I've started a new thread - will post a link to the list there once it's announced!

            Re: Creative World Award Scorecard

Found my way back to DD after a very long period of inactivity. I've got a comedy in CWA with a score of 9.31 and a thriller/drama in the QFs at Nicholl.

I wouldn't worry about Scriptapalooza - they seem to have a different taste than these other contests.

CWA just put up the QF - with Semis to be announced the 29th (don't pay attention to the Q&A discrepency, that is not accurate).

My three are still in the runnnig - congrats to Paul with your two great scripts, and way to go Leo with StormDragons!

              Looking forward to the semis!

Wow JC, and 9.3? Can you teach me the secrets to writing a comedy?

(Serously - any good advice on books etc. you have learned from?)

                  Re: Creative World Award Scorecard

Stainjm: There's nothing funny about writing comedy . Don't know where you live, but if you live in a city that has comedy improv classes (I'm lucky in that respect), sign up for classes or go to performances. I think I got lucky with my score because the reader totally "got it" - something that's never a guarantee with comedy writing. The cut from prelims to QFs in CWA isn't that drastic; still 100 scripts in the comedy category. August is always an exciting month for us pencil pushers.

Got to agreed, that's a stunning score. Congrads!

Congrads to all those who made it through to the QF's. One of mine (out of 3) got kicked out. I gotta say I think it's a rocking script but so be it.

Roll on the semis, fingers crossed for all.

Thanks, Presto! Congrads back at you. Like I said, I do think I got lucky with my reader, but heck, it takes luck too, right? SFs next week!
