    "Here's how it works:

Download and fill out our exclusive free TV Pilot Kit, including Show Proposal and Character Relationship worksheets along with illustrated examples.
Submit your Pilot Kit to be judged by a panel of Industry pros. The top 50 semi-finalists win attendance in a live TV Pilot 101 webinar (a $200 value!), conducted by Everybody Loves Raymond executive producer Ellen Sandler.
Those 50 semi-finalists have one month to write the first draft of their pilots. Judges will narrow down the pool to 10 finalists.
The top 10 finalists enter into our Story Specialists mentoring program, where they will polish their pilot and create a Show Bible.
The final projects are submitted to a panel of judges and a winner is selected.
The lucky winner of the Industry Insider Television Writing Contest receives unparalleled Industry experience, a meeting with an esteemed executive producer and much more."

Because writing a TV pilot or a screenplay isn't a lot of work in itself?

It looks like the same basic process at the Industry Insider screenplay competitions. You send in some portion of the project, they pick the most promising ones, then mentor you through finishing it and those finalists compete for the prize.

Re: New Industry Insider TV Pilot contest

I just turned in a script for the last screenplay round of this contest and from my experience, it was well worth the time and money to enter. My mentor was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and in a little over two months, I had a finished script that is in much better shape than if I'd been at it on my own.

The tv version does have a bit more work involved to enter, but I look at it as work I'd be doing anyway to write a pilot.

But... the deadline is in June? So develop the character relationships, outline the pilot, have an arc for series... and don't write the script! Ha. I'll do this, but I may have a rough first draft by the time they get to selections. Good prep though, I like their worksheet.

                    50 semi-finalists? Why not 100? 200?

These contests are getting way out of hand.

They should just make everyone who enters an automatic semifinalist.

I downloaded their "free" Pilot kit just to see, and I see why it was free.

It's a worksheet. There are not a lot of different ways to develop a pilot. Characters? Plot? Arc? Fill in the blanks.

I think the large number of "semi-finalists" is because they want to gain exposure for the Ellen Sandler workshop. The top 10 seems like it carries much more weight. They do the same thing with the feature industry insider competition.

Anyone else enter this or have any more information about it? If so, did you enter a comedy or a drama pilot proposal?
