I'm thrilled to report that ARCADIA, which I cowrote with my terrific writing partner (a non-DDPer), advanced to the finals! We also have one in the semis, and I individually have one in the quarters. Very excited to see how things play out.

That's wonderful news. A big congrats. Start planning right now cause the next several weeks (months?) are going to start getting busy. Getting ready to seize the day.

Here's a cool thing to do (while pretending to work, heh) -- check out the collection of pages from famous screenplays over at the Nicholl Facebook site. It's fun to see how many lines it takes (or even just a glance at the character names) to guess the film.

Not sure if you've answered this before (my apologies if you have): have there ever been cases where judges have encountered a Nicholl entry they've previously read in a professional context? Are there any instructions if something like that were to occur? Thanks!

I know committee members have recused themselves when a student's script has reached the finals. Many first and quarterfinal readers have returned scripts unread when they realize they've read it elsewhere or know the writer. Can't remember it happening on the semifinal level (but it probably has).

Sorry, we're not planning to share the comments of volunteer Academy member judges at the present time.

We hope to make available many or even all of the first and quarterfinal round comments at some point in the future (it's dependent upon changes in our database and entrant accounts).
