Re: Nicholl Fellowship's reader notes
Most are so vague, they could be anyone's script.
After writing on and off for years, this is the first time I have had anything ready/good enough to enter.

Re: Nicholl Fellowship's reader notes
It usually is the case that, deep down, reader's notes are similar unless they're very detailed, because the general notes for a good and not so great script are in their essence the same. It grips you or it doesn't grip you. etc. I guess it feels a bit like fortune cookie reading but unless getting into nitty-gritty details, this is (mostly) the case, isn't it?

Re: Nicholl Fellowship's reader notes
Which sucks, of course. I've been on both sides of the writer-reader equation, and unless you're allowed to go very detailed, and you usually aren't (and maybe it's not the best strategy either) you end up grasping for generalizations.
For what I've heard, the best tactic is the Lindsay Doran open-question singling out of motives/purpose of specific scenes. Wish I could get my hand on a couple of Lindsay notes.

Re: Nicholl Fellowship's reader notes
Always have fun reading these! Of course while thinking, wouldn't it be cool if this was about my script?
But this year, for the first time ever, I thought - Hey, I'm pretty sure that IS about my script.
A writer can dream....
