    If you have a look at the list of side effects of many drugs, you'll find 'depression' listed as a possible side effect. Probably not 'severe' depression, but still...

    For example:
    * Norethindrone
    * Activella and femhrt
    * Tenuate (a dieting drug)
    etc

    To add to the realism, you should probably mention that this person is taking much more than the prescribed amount, etc.

    It's rather frightening looking at the possible side effect list of many common prescription medications. One of the ones from my medicine cabinet could cause hallucinations !

          if you can't get a prescription drug, nutmeg psychosis (yup) can induce hallucinations and "a sense of impending death," which can last for several days straight.

            A guy here in New Zealand attacked his girlfriend with a samurai sword after going on a 'P' binge. Here's an article.

            Also, a hypnotist could probably do it.

              They call meth "P" over there?

              Heh.

              And, no, a hypnotist could not cause a person to do that.

                Correct.

                Just a question, as you've peeked my interest, why could a hypnotist not make someone crazy?

                  "Piqued."

                  I used to have access to an article that tested the idea that a hypnotist could "make someone crazy" and also make them kill.

                  I've lost the link, but the basics of it are that a hypnotist cannot make a person do anything against their nature or against their will. Both tests were failures and the results were bolstered by past research. If I get bored later I'll do a database search and see if I can find it again (or similar articles).

                  As far as a hypnotist making a person "crazy," eh...that's debateable. And, I don't feel like debating it right now.

                      Believe it or not, almost any anti-depressant can cause someone to become suicidal. You don't have to take more than the prescribed dosage to have that as a side effect. Plenty of people have been prescribed prozac and as a result became suicidal.

                      Because someone is depressed, it doesn't mean he's suicidal. Without question, anti-depressants can make someone suicidal, but most of the drugs take a few weeks to work, so it isn't like you take a prozac today and would get suicidal in a day or two, or even a week or two. Many drugs take weeks before any effect occurs, and suicidal thoughts could take even longer before they occur. The drugs (most of them) need to build up in the system.

                      hope that helps.
