  • Detective's badge...

    ...is usually attached to a leather wallet-like thing. Any idea what the whole thing's generally called?

    detective's badges

    They are just called badge wallets or ID wallets. Most common is the flip-out style, with a leather badge pad on one side and ID slot on the other side.

    a company called Blackman's or perhaps blackton's makes several styles, if I remember right.

        Normally, badges, IDs, or "creds" are kept in a seperate wallet. Most law enforcement officers call them "badge holders" or "wallets". For examples/information see;

        www.galls.com www.donhume.com www.qmuniforms.com .

        Also, when I used a wallet holder for my badge, I had a 3 way type holder from Strong Leather that could be worn on the belt, jacket pocket or on a chain around my neck. My photo ID was in a clear window on the other side.

            ps, Jake--when a cop (not in uniform) or detective shows his badge, they are 'flashing the tin'. Just a little lingo for you.
