  • Avoiding logos/copyright in shorts

I always avoid specific products like Coke in a script or a short and make sure there are no logos--

Phones are things that people use all the time-- are iPhones too specific to mention or use/show in a short? Better to use a generic flip-phone type thing? I really wanted to use an iPhone to show the status symbol aspect of it. Harumph.

What about driving a car? Could that mess things up if the type of car is shown?

Write whatever you want. When you get to set, the art and wardrobe departments can cover up any logos, that's part of their job.

Things like specific phones and cars are fine. Have your characters use the phone they use and drive the car they drive. No big deal.

I guess I should ask my lawyer or take it out. We're in production. Thanks, though!
