  • What is this called?

Before digital digital clocks, there were clocks which had those flip-down numbers like the old airport information panels. The numbers are mounted on a rolodex-like tumbler.

If you know what I mean, do you know what they were called?

--can't help you with what they are called, but I believe the film Groundhog Day uses one to count off the days, in one scene there's an ECU as the numbers tumble over in slo-mo.

They are called Flip Clocks. Google that and you'll see a lot of examples.

Funny moment from the OJ criminal case in the 1990s...

The ? about clocks reminds me of a real exchange between Dep DA Marcia Clark and couch potato/MENSA member; Kato Kalin...

Clark: How did you know the exact time?
          Kato: I saw the clock.
Clark: Was it analog or digital?
          Kato: Uhhhh...
Clark: Could you read the numbers or was it a clock with hands?

If I were there I'd have to step out of the courtroom, .
I'd rather get bank credit, than screen credit.

Total sidetrack....But I witnessed a 13 year old a while back when he was visiting an elderly family member and he had no idea how to use a rotary dial phone. He kept punching his finger into the number holes, but nothing happened......Feel free to steal the scene.

That scene it's already in Aliens in the Attics. Was that your inspiration?

Nope. Never saw the movie. The kid's name was Jaxon, a straight 'A'
student, and it was hilarious in real life.

Also in - In and Out - a model tries to make a phone call in a small town hotel with a rotary phone and tries punching the holes.
