Yes, convenient stores as well as drug stores sell sports cards....

However, unless things have changed in the last few years, there is a difference between Retail packs and Hobby packs- most Retail pack have a lower % of the elusive and highly sought after variant (or insert) cards.

I have no idea if you can still buy sports cards at convenience stores, but I know you can buy Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, Swank, Leg Show, etc.

I didn't read the thread, so maybe it's already been answered. But yes you can and yes I do. I pick them up at 7/11 all the time. You can pick them up at Sportsmart, Sports Authority and several liquor stores, here in LA anyway.

I collect them with my kids if you're wondering.
