With Wedding Crashers and 40 Year Old Virgin, they seem to be back in vogue.

    Fast Times

    Trading Places

Police Academy and Running Scared are guilty pleasures

Coming to America (but I felt its raunchy scenes were unnecessary given the tone of the film)

No doubt this thread will be Farrelly Bros. laden.

Although they're not narrative films, you can't list great R-rated comedies without DELIRIOUS and RAW.

                      Planes, Trains and Automobiles

I'd put Tommy Boy in there, but I think it might have been PG-13.

I like Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but I really never laughed that hard. There were a lot of amusing anecdotes about HS life (especially in the 80s), but no real laugh out loud comedy situations. It doesn't set up jokes or punchlines like the others I listed.

Same thing goes for films like Vally Girl, Dazed and Confused, etc. They show a lot of inside jokes that we all chuckle at because we remembers those times, but they don't set up comedy and deliver it.

Or, Richard Pryor: Live On The Sunset Strip.

Murphy was good, but Pryor is a god.

Who else can tell a story about catching themselves on fire from freebasing and make it funny?

                        EDIT:

To the post below, I thought I was the only one that liked the Ladykillers remake! Nice to see someone else enjoyed it.
