  • Dracula

We need a new Dracula movie.

And I'm not talking about some pretentious awful version where he didn't even have a black cape and Neo was stomping around and I didn't even know who Dracula was and am still not sure.

I'm talking a regular, faithful to Bella Lugosi or whoever the heck played him, version.

Get to work on the script, people.

    Dracula.

I think it would be a big hit.

I agree. Excellent material there. A sort of Batman Begins meets Interview with the Vampire (and definitely NOT starring Tom Cruise - sorry Billy).
Just one more reason to get hammered tonight.

      Re: Dracula

      Russell Crowe as Dracula.

The script and marketing writes itself.

No pretension though!!!! I want Crowe sneaking into rooms and biting woman's necks.

Straight Dracula faire and/or fair and/or fare and/or some other spelling of the word.

Yeah, none of the craptastic Dracula films. A REAL dracula movie. Where it's scary because...

Anybody who wants a scary Dracula should check out Nosferatu.

          Oh, wait.

          Silent...black and white....

Never mind, fellas. You wouldn't like it.

Sounds like a line straight out of Peter Gallagher's mouth in The Player.

                  Re: Dracula

I bet this shows up as a pitch sold on the Script Sales page within three months.

                  But that's okay.

                  I just want the movie.

Consider it a freebie present from me to you, dried up, out of ideas, but still able to get meetings based on your success in the 80's and early 90's screenwriter and/or producer.

                  A freebie present from Billy.

Good luck and don't screw it up.

                    Re: Dracula

Dracula isn't scary. He's seductive and disturbing, like a wealthy glamorous handsome serial killer who kills people by seducing them and making mad passionate love to them until they die.

He offers you everything you desire. Every basic animal lusty impulse will be satisfied for all eternity.

He is the ultimate snake offering us the apple.

What is frightening is what those who accept the apple are willing to do to keep it and how it perverts them.

The problem with Dracula films is that they are made by people who just don't get what the story is about and try to make it into something scary.

Dracula was never scary. It was Victorian porn.

As long as people keep trying to make Dracula scary it will continue to be crappy and highly forgettable as the next cheap shock-fest takes its place.

                        Re: Dracula

You see, this is why I wrote a Robin Hood script. Because new versions of these timeless stories are inevitable. no matter how much they tell ya on triggerstreet they've been done to death and give you low marks

Wasn't there a Dracula vs. Sherlock Holmes script that sold in a bidding war for a million bucks a couple years ago, and then the writer died of pneumonia afterward or something?

I liked the (197_?) version with Frank Langella as Dracula and Laurence Olivier as Van Helsing....

See, Joss Whedon got that when he had Dracula stalk Buffy in season 5, though Spike just thinks he's a ponce with a couple of parlor tricks.
