Debating on whether to rent it later on tonight. I thought the first trailer, with the souped up BLONDIE soundtrack was just about the coolest thing ever and I couldn't WAIT to see it. Then the other trailers made it look a lot more camp, with overacting and everybody yelling and smashing things. But the cast is unbelievable and the whole thing still looks exciting.

Thoughts from those who have seen it? Six dollars and two-and-a-half hours of my time are at stake here!

I've been wanting to see it. I meant to see it in the theater. I'll watch it in the next few days and report back.

There's no doubt in my mind it's a great film to watch -- but more for the enjoyable over the top quality it seems like it has. Great actors all going full Nicholas Cage it seems to me. Which is a good thing.

Lady Gaga is doing a Russian Accent, right? And that's just wonderfully off.

As a Boston native, I love talking about accents -- see The Departed for some terrible ones. And smart choices by Jack N to NOT even try one.

I went ahead and rented it last night... not done yet. So far it's a big snooze fest. Very disappointed. Just goes to show how misleading a great trailer with a kickass soundtrack can be.

And... GUCCI... is Italian. She's doing an Italian accent Apparently she was so in character that she spoke with that accent for months in her everyday life--to friends, family, etc.

Everybody has to do an Italian accent in the film. Some are better than others. Adam Driver is SO talented and he basically just kind of stands there and smiles. Hopefully things get a little more exciting in the second half.

Yes i know, but Gaga sounds like she's doing a RUSSIAN accent and she is Italian so it's even more fun! Same way Leo was NOT doing a Boston Accent in The Departed. He was "trying" to do that... but failed.

My favorite thing in movies is when actors do accents, but speak in English like when Russians are on a Russian submarine. Love it!

Or in Die Hard "shoot the glass" so we understand what he was saying.

Gotcha. Well I finished it and it was a huge let-down. Just sooo bad. Everybody looked like they were acting. There isn't a single character you care about, find funny, witty, fascinating, etc. Jared Leto looked and acted like a buffoon. The editing was terrible. They should have got the person who cut the trailer to edit the film. He/she was smart enough to cut the little speech at the ski resort WITH the tapping of the spoon on the coffee cup. In the film? It comes after. All the scenes were dragged out. Just bad. An all-star cast, one of the best directors in the world, an arguably fascinating subject with plenty of lifestyle porn appeal... and it just falls flat. What a waste of talent. And the reason Gucci went bankrupt wasn't even really clear, so it really decreases the drama. And maybe someone somewhere should have shot some gorgeous shots of Tuscany. Nope. They didn't even milk that. Same with the Lake Como mansion. Barely took advantage of that. The whole thing felt disjointed, like someone took a bunch of scenes and slapped them together for no apparent reason.

The French actress, Camille Cotin, came as a nice surprise. She doesn't say much but I love her presence. A couple CUs of her face are more interesting that much of the film in its entirety. She's one of my faves. Anyone who hasn't seen CALL MY AGENT on Netflix should check it out. It's like ENTOURAGE in Paris, but from CAA's POV, with a real movie star guest starring in each episode.
