  • Finding Neverland

I almost cried during this movie.

it brings back the kid in all of us, and that's all that needs to be said on the matter.

    Go watch it.

    I give it an A -

Point deducted for Depp going in and out of a british accent.

Almost cried? I wept like a child who'd lost his teddy bear.

My Best Pic choice last year, of the nominees anyway.

This was one of the better films from 2004. I actually watched this again recently.

        Really good stuff.

I wept like Annie would have if Daddie Warbucks had told her to fvck off and get a life.

          But I'm quite sentimental.

          Good movie.

            Good movie.
Didn't break until the scene where Winslet sees the play in her home -and "Neverland" is revealed. Then I lost it.

Made me wonder though - how few American actors can manage different accents, especially English/Scottish/Irish ones. British actors/actresses seem to do American accents rather easily, but I can count on one hand how many Americans can speak well with a foreign accent. I think Depp did a fairly decent job.

I only know of one, and that's Bob Haskins in 'Who framed Roger Rabbit".

              fooled me.

I guess we're too polite to mention it? Since we're not enamored with our own accent.

Speaking as a Brit now living in America. American accent is HARD, Southern is easier, but overall its harder than it sounds. I would say Scottish is easy because once you get the correct pronounciation of the vowel sounds the words just flow.

And yeah, Finding Neverland is a great film.

                  .
All accents are hard to do well. Renee Zelwegger and Gwyneth Paltrow do great 'received pronounciation' Brit accents. Johnny Depp captured middle class Edinburgh Scots perfectly.

well, who am i to complain if the british folks say he did a great job?

An "A" folks. I hate giving them out, but this movie gets it.

Yep. And part of the reason it was an engrossing film. Depp owned it. Without doubt one of the greatest actors out there.

                            "HOOK" is much more fun.

Oh, I hate being disappointed, Smee. And I hate living in this flawed body. And I hate living in Neverland. And I hate... I hate... I *hate* Peter Pan!

                              two different genres.

Hook is a realist film. delving into emotions and the turmoils of middle aged men. people were in tears when peter relearned how to fly.

                              i certainly was.

finding neverland is just pure fun. you cant think too much about it and just need to go along for the ride.

both have their place in society.
